In
order to be considered for a Deputy Sheriff- Reserve position,
an applicant must:
• Complete
the Application
•
21 Yrs. Of Age or older
•
a U.S. Citizen
•
Background/ Criminal History check (Board of Probation (BOP)/
Interstate Identification Index (III) must be clear with no convictions.
•
Have an Excellent Driving Record
•
Initial Interview Process
•
Possess a Massachusetts Driver’s License
•
Possess Health/ Medical Insurance
•
Be able to obtain a Massachusetts Firearms
License to Carry- Class A
After the
Application and Interview Process is completed, the selected candidates
will be sponsored by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department
to attend the following Training Program.
TRAINING
REQUIREMENTS
• Must
attend and complete a Massachusetts Municipal Police Training
Committee (M.P.T.C.) Reserve-Intermittent Basic Police Academy
or equivalent.
•
Must be certified in American Heart Association (AHA) Health-Care
Provider C.P.R. / A.E.D. or equivalent.
•
Must be certified as an Emergency First Responder (EMT-P, EMT-I,
EMT-B, or First Responder).
•
Must attend In-House training programs covering, but not limited
to, Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.), Sexual Harassment,
Use of Force (Use of Baton and Use of Oleo-Resin Capsicum (O.C.),
Firearms Qualification (Low-Light / Reactionary-Decision Making
Shooting).
•
Must attend and complete an In-House Deputy Orientation Program.
•
Must attend and complete an “annual” In-Service Training
and Qualification Program.
Once the Deputy
Candidate has completed these requirements, the Deputy Candidate
must also attend a Uniform Inspection.
Uniforms,
Duty- Belt, and Weapon are the responsibility of the Deputy Candidate
to purchase, as well as, all tuitions incurred during the Training
Process.
