1655, the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ordered,
"There shall be a house of correction provided in each county
at the counties charge."
Today, that charge is in the hands of the thirtieth Sheriff of
Plymouth County, Joseph D. McDonald, Jr.
Through
his leadership new programs are being explored to provide additional
and better services inside the jail and to the public.
