TRANSPORTATION DEPUTIES AWARDED

          Two employees of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department were recognized by the Executive Office of Public Safety during the 10^th Annual Correction Officer of the Year Award Ceremony.

            Transportation Deputies Christopher Socha and Michael Santos received the Meritorious Conduct Award for their response to a fatal Plympton car crash in May 2006.

            Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald Jr. nominated Socha and Santos for the award, “Deputies Socha and Santos witnessed the serious crash while transporting prisoners. They were first on scene to assist four teenage girls in one car and a mini-van with a mother and young children in the other. The actions of these officers helped local emergency officials reach the victims in need of the most urgent care as fast as possible. I am proud.”

            Officers from the State Department of Correction, Norfolk County, Barnstable and Suffolk Counties also received awards.

            The ceremony was held Tuesday, June 26^th in the House Chamber.
