Definitions of Abuse/Battering: Acts of violence usually fall into one or more of the following categories:

• Physical Abuse: The offender’s physical attacks or abusive behavior can vary from hitting and punching to murder. Often times, the abuse begins with trivial contacts that increase in intensity to more frequent and serious attacks.
• Sexual Abuse: Physical attack by the abuser is often accompanied by sexual violence in which the victim is forced to take part in unwanted sexual activity.
• Emotional Abuse: The abuser’s psychological or mental violence can include persistent verbal abuse, harassment, excessive possessiveness, isolation from friends and family, deprivation of physical and economic resources, stalking, intimidation, insulting and degrading comments, and destruction of personal property.....
