Volunteer/Intern Program

horizontal rule

The Plymouth County Correctional Facility has set up many programs that are staffed by volunteers. While paid educators run many of the educational programs, several non-educational programs are run by volunteers. Without volunteers, we would not be able to provide as many programs and services as we currently do.

PCCF is constantly seeking more volunteers. Currently, there are two hundred and thirty people who volunteer their time at the jail. One hundred and twenty five of these are involved in religious programs and provide religious services and counseling to inmates. There is one religious coordinator who is a paid employee of PCCF. He is available every day for counseling and any other religious needs the inmates may have.

Eighty percent of the volunteers are men. Every volunteer has a C.O.R.I. (Criminal Offender Record Information) background check before they are allowed in the prison. As a result of a CORI check, the Sheriff’s Department can refuse any volunteer.

EARNED GOOD TIME: MOVE TO BEGINNING OF GUIDE

Earned Good Time (EGT) is one way to encourage inmates to participate in the programs offered at PCCF. Inmates can earn a maximum of seven and a half days per month off their sentence. This is accomplished if they are involved in an education class, a program, and a work assignment simultaneously. Otherwise, they can earn two and a half days for each one taken individually.
