How can I visit a person in ICE custody?
Visitors must submit the pre-approval form and be cleared by security before coming for a visit.

Tuesday: 9:00AM – 11:00AM, 1:00PM – 4:00PM, 6:00PM – 10:00PM
Saturday: 9:00AM – 1:00AM, 1:00PM – 4:00PM

Thursdays: 9:00AM – 11:00AM, 1:00PM – 4:00PM

How can an Attorney have contact with a person in ICE custody?
Attorneys have 24-hour in-person access to their clients.
People in custody can make calls from their tablets or the phones in their housing units to call their attorneys.
Attorneys will use Jurislink for virtual visits and virtual court appearances.
Pro Bono Attorneys from the Pair Project, BU Law Students, and Boston College Legal Services regularly meet with people who need legal advice and service. There is a “Law Library” in the housing units (LexisNexis) with specific module for immigration. There is access to a printer as well.
Are people assigned a caseworker?
Yes, the case worker visits the housing unit twice a day to assist men with their questions or concerns.
Do people in custody have to set up an account and deposit money to pay for phone calls?
They do not. Anyone in a Massachusetts correctional facility receives free, unlimited outbound phone calls.
Are the men in ICE custody housed with inmates awaiting trial or serving their sentence?
No. The adult men who are here in the custody of ICE are housed in their own housing unit with both sight and sound separation from other inmates.
Are there dietary or religious accommodations for meals?
Yes, medical and religious accommodations are made. The menu runs on a 5-week cycle, 2 hot and 1 cold meal per day, for a 2900-calorie meal prepared by a registered dietician.
Additional items can be purchased through the commissary. There is a hot water machine in the unit for coffee, tea, and soup.
Are there medical services in Plymouth?
Medical conditions and medications are determined at intake. The men are seen by the primary care physician, dentist, and optometrist within 14 days of arrival. Medications are distributed directly in the housing units twice a day. The nurse will make a sick call every morning. Mobile X-Ray. Trident – blood draws. Scheduled appointments with specialists if needed. We are an Opioid Treatment Provider (OTP) and administer medications for people diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder. Will you accommodate religious practices?
During the intake interview, we learn of any religious accommodations needed, and our chaplain makes the arrangements. Everyone has access to participate in the rituals of their faith.

Do you provide a laundry service?
Yes, upon arrival, you receive 3 uniforms, 5 pairs of boxer shorts, socks, shoes, 2 towels, 2 facecloths, and 2 sheets. We provide laundry service twice a week and maintain a high level of cleanliness in the housing units.
Are there opportunities for exercise and access to fresh air?
The men can visit the gymnasium three times per week for an hour, where there is plenty of space to jog, play basketball, or play other pickup games. Within every housing unit, there is a “recreation deck” where there is space to jog, play basketball, or just get some fresh air.
Does Plymouth have a 287(g) agreement with ICE?
No, from August 25, 2017, to September 10, 2021, we had an agreement, but that was no renewed. We do have an intergovernmental agency contract to provide care, custody, and transportation for DHS- ICE. Our partnership with the federal government pre-dates the first contract in 1994.
Does the Plymouth Sheriff’s Office retain any of the revenues received as a result of the services rendered on behalf of the federal government?
Although substantial revenues are generated pursuant to the agreements with the federal Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, those revenues in their entirety are forwarded to the general fund of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for appropriation as our legislature may determine.
