Anyone interested in joining the CTU must attend one of these sessions. Please submit your online application here.
Please print, complete, and bring a copy of this Health History Form. If your CPR and First Responder training is up-to-date, please bring a copy of your certification.
CTU supports non-security traffic details that cannot be filled by POST-certified law enforcement officers. The CTU is only activated after all other available resources have been exhausted. The unit is primarily composed of retired law enforcement.
→ Assist local law enforcement with efficient traffic direction and control, ensuring public safety for citizens and contractors on construction road details
→ Ensure pedestrian and vehicle safety at parades and other pre-planned community events
→ Promptly submit required reports to the assigned supervisor
→ Maintain current First Responder/CPR certification (training available)
→ Completion of our Traffic Control practicum
→ Attend required trainings and be compliant with approved uniform and agency policies
→ Valid MA Driver’s License
→ Complete a successful background check
→ Desire and skill to work cooperatively with the general public
→ Strong verbal and written communication skills
→ The ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and make concise decisions per agency policies
